Sat1 really has a LOT of potential! With NVIDIA and others announcing Home AI Hardware, as well as the Nexus box coming out from FutureProofHomes, Satellite1 becomes the first cloudless, mass-market potential add-on to Home Assistant (and whatever else you want to integrate it with). Everything is customizable, with a very decent built-in firmware, too, for those who want a product instead of a DevKit.
This board has opened so many doors for me to explore AI. It's great as is for AI / Smart Home enthusiasts, and a must for every room once stable!
With Music assistant and a little node-red magic for notifications the wife is happy. I can finally ditch Alexa! Can't wait for that AI base station, so I can be fully local. I will be buying a few more of these for my new house and our Smart RV.
Loving it so far. The support directly from FutureProofHomes on the discord was prompt and right on the money. Looking forward to ESPHome builds that allow toggling which presences sensors are attached so I can let update alerts and patching happen automatically.
Items go together very well. This is my fifth type of voice assistant and so far the best. But what is most impressive is the customer service. Very active Discord group, well thought out directions, and personal help if needed.
Just wanted to say that I finally got all of the parts printed as well as the time to put this all together. After about 5 minutes with this I pre-ordered another one! I am really impressed!
Out of the box, it just works. Flashing the firmware was easy and I was connected to Home Assistant in minutes.
The 3d printed files all slot together perfectly. I was worried about my printer not being precise enough, but it was smooth!
As someone who has tried just about every option for a voice assistant to replace she who shall not be named, this is the first the A) just works, and B) has a high Wife Approval factor.
