Build the Satellite1 Together
Surrounding Noise is Not canceled. I have to mute the Radio / before talking to the Satellit
Nice kit. Audio is pretty good with the speaker I used for the mid size build. Side by side with the home assistant voice PE I hate to say it but the satellite one is nowhere near as sensitive to wake words. The voice PE will pick me up from well across the room but I have to speak very loudly or get quite close to the satellite one before it it recognizes me. This only gets worse if there's any audio playing. Even at low volumes I have to speak very loudly. Hopefully this is a software thing and can be fixed. I did a little googling but have not dived in depth for troubleshooting. I can't imagine that it is the enclosure because there are direct holes for the microphones. My first thing might be to disassemble it and see how well it works out of the enclosure. Would love to hear suggestions on how to remedy this. If the sensitivity was better it would be a five-star for sure.
Hey Jonathan,
Sounds like something is wrong, this experience isn't normal. Can I recommend joining us in the discord and sharing a video of your setup and the behavior. That said, our upcoming firmware has a wake word sensitivity setting built-in.
Your 3D printed enclosure looks great. Congrats!
Very impressed with the product itself. The ship time was extremely sluggish and updates didn't work for a while, but out of the box the package was impressive. I wish ESP home builder current version was somewhere close to the extremely behind version compatible with the satellite one product, but at least they flash it beforehand and you don't have to even mess with it really. Everything's pretty simple and straightforward.
Great board as the hat. I also really enjoy the software: easy setup, config in Home Assistant, etc. I was surprised by all the ring animations and sounds that increase even more user experience.
I'm very happy with it: it has many functionalities, great extension possibilities, quality, etc.
