The Satellite1 HAT Board is designed to seamlessly integrate with our Core Board, empowering you to create a world-class voice assistant. It features 4 high-performance microphones that we've upgraded with higher quality microphones, powered by an XMOS audio processing chip, enabling clear audio capture. Additionally, the HAT boasts 4 programmable buttons, a headphone jack, and a robust 25W speaker amplifier. It even acts as a multi-sensor by measuring room temperature, humidity, luminosity, and presence when paired with a mmWave radar sensor. An extra LD2450 mmWave radar connector has been added to bottom of the HAT to support our latest enclosures.

Build the Satellite1 Together
Great sound a quality overall
On my conference call to discuss the issues I agreed to investigate the performance and speech capture issues. The test compared V1.4 with HA Voice PE and the latter won hands down. (a total of 30 repeated tests at 1/2/3 metre distances per device).
I asked for a refund but luckily V1.5 arrived just in the nick of time. The voice capture was not distorted but instead now fully captured (not cut or parts missing). And the wake word activation more sensitive / reliable, but still not quite as good as the HA Voice PE which responds 4 metres away in another room when standing by the Sat1. I was advised that wake word training might be needed due to having a British acent and that’s on my todoist list.
This product has promise and wish the development team good luck with further improvements
Everything worked as expected, assembly was straight forward.
Works great out of the box, but it's a little lite on documentation, specifically with respect to different ways to integrate into esp home. Nothing you can't eventually figure out, but it takes some research. For those of us that want devices in every room this is too expensive. By the time you build, or buy a housing, and decent speaker you are over $100. You can get there other ways, that are quite a bit less expensive. Overall a good product.
Noted on the needing more documentation. Please feel free to reply here with what was missing or even out documentation repo in GitHub is good place to open issue: https://github.com/FutureProofHomes/Documentation
- Wake word doesn't really work well, sometimes I have to give it 4 or 5
tries even when I'm standing right next to it.
- there is no audio streaming for external wake word detection engine (already created an issue here https://github.com/FutureProofHomes/Satellite1-Hardware/discussions/50)
- no bluetooth option (I knew that before)
Given it's price those are features that I expect to work.
